DGDA Hosts Annual Media Suhour
18 April 2022
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority’s media liaison team held its Annual Media Suhour on Monday, April 18th in the historic Turaif district. This seventh iteration of DGDA’s suhour, organized by the Media Forum Group, also coincided with the International Day for Monuments and Sites, also known as World Heritage Day.
The event was attended by several Editors-in-chief and members of the media, along with representatives of the Saudi chapter of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS Saudi Arabia) and several DGDA officials.
His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Alkassabi, Acting Minister of Media, who was away from Riyadh and delivered his speech remotely, highlighted the invaluable expertise that members of the media bring to such events. The media, H.E. Dr. Qasabi added, has long been an industry to be reckoned with. It does not simply gather and report the news but has a major influence on both public and private opinion. He concluded by thanking DGDA for holding its annual suhour and the media and other guests for their valued attendance.
In a speech that Mr. Kiran Haslam, Chief Marketing Officer at the DGDA, delivered on his behalf, CEO Jerry Inzerillo welcomed the attendees to this unique Ramadan evening, held in one of the Kingdom’s most prominent historic districts on World Heritage Day.
Media Forum Group Event Supervisor Fahd Bin Nomah, said that the Annual Media Suhour is attended by the who’s who of the media. Throughout the years, the suhour has allowed journalists to connect and exchange anecdotes and expertise from their time in the industry. Furthermore, it has given rise to various initiatives that have enriched the field as a whole. The event also reflects DGDA’s deep appreciation for all that the media does.
The event included discussions on war-time TV reporting, trade journalism, and the future of visual content in the age of YouTube. Towards the end of the evening, journalists who had spoken on the event’s various panels were honored for their input.
