At-Turaif
At-Turaif Historic District is one of the most significant landmarks of Diriyah. It served as the center of governance for the First Saudi State from 1180 AH (1766 CE). Located on the western banks of Wadi Hanifah, it includes several notable facilities, such as the Bayt Al-Mal (Treasury), Sbalat Modhi, and Al-Turaif Bathhouse. The district showcases distinctive Najdi architecture, which narrates the rich heritage and enduring legacy of Diriyah.
Sibalat Modhi
Sibalat Modhi stands as the first charitable endowment in the history of Saudi Arabia, commissioned by Imam Abdulaziz bin Muhammad bin Saud to honor his mother, Princess Muḍhi bint Sultan Abi Wahtan, celebrating her noble virtues. This generous establishment offered a safe haven to travelers from all corners of the Arabian Peninsula. Today, Sbalat Moḍhi embodies a legacy of selfless love and unmatched generosity, reflecting the very essence of the values upon which our cherished kingdom was built.
Salwa Palace
Salwa Palace stands as a timeless icon of a glorious historical journey. Within its majestic walls lie the councils of government, guardhouses, storerooms, security quarters, meeting halls, and halls to receive guests. Today, its breathtaking architecture and soaring walls narrate the tale of the kingdom's political weight and profound heritage. The ruling family transitioned from the seat of government in Gasibah to Al-Turaif. Under the reign of Imam Abdulaziz bin Muhammad, the foundation stone of Salwa Palace was laid, transforming it into the second seat of government during the First Saudi State era. Salwa Palace, with its majestic walls, expansive grounds, and striking architectural design, stands proudly as a testament to a history brimming with glory and triumph.
