Diriyah Gate Development Authority Wins the “Ezwa” Award for Community Engagement

Diriyah Gate Development Authority has been awarded first place in the Community Initiatives track, Government Organizations category, at the second edition of the Ezwa Award for Community Participation, organized by Riyadh Municipality for 2026.  

The award recognizes DGDA’s initiative to develop Diriyah’s parks and community centers, and its role in creating public amenities that support community participation and serve Diriyah’s residents. 

The initiative included the development of Al-Maidan and Dhahrat Al-Oud parks and two community centers, led by the Authority’s Urban Planning and Municipal Affairs sector in coordination with Diriyah Municipality. These facilities provide destinations close to residential neighborhoods, bringing together recreation, sports, learning, and social interaction while meeting the needs of residents of all ages. 

Al-Maidan Park in Al-Khalidiyah neighborhood is one of the initiative’s key facilities. Covering 14,000 square meters, it features a multipurpose community center alongside green spaces, children’s play areas, sports courts, and walking and running tracks. Its design draws on Diriyah’s architectural identity, strengthening the connection between public amenities and the character and cultural values of the place. 

The initiative extends the role of parks beyond recreation, enabling residents to bring these spaces to life through local initiatives, volunteering, and cultural, educational, and social programs. The community centers also offer spaces for coworking, learning, and knowledge sharing, providing young people, families, and creatives with opportunities to develop their skills, pursue their interests, and build connections within the Diriyah community. 

The Ezwa Award for Community Participation recognizes outstanding initiatives and meaningful contributions to the municipal sector. It encourages individuals and organizations to contribute to the development of their communities and promotes partnerships that deliver a positive, lasting impact.
